An officer made a traffic stop after witnessing a vehicle run a stop sign on Saturday, Nov. 17 around midnight at the intersection of Weston Road and Main Street and continue to swerve and switch lanes.

The man was identified as Bernard Rombout of Weston. Police picked up an alcoholic odor from the vehicle and instructed Rombout to perform a series of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests.

After failing the tests, Rombout was arrested and transported to police headquarters, according to police. Police also learned that Rombout had been driving with a suspended license.

A legal breath test showed that Rombout was above the legal limit. Rombout was then charged with operating under the influence, stop sign violation, and illegal operation of motor vehicle under suspension.

Rombout was released upon posting $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, Nov. 27.
